Cat's eye nebula real image. Its so neat seeing these things in a small almost more real way instead of just pretty pictures. Three thousand light-years away a dying star throws off shells of glowing gas in this image from the Hubble Space Telescope of the Cats Eye Nebula. One photo is visual the other is using the I3 image intensifying eyepiece.
Since having given up astro-imaging for health reasons and selling my gear I am finding real joy in processing some of Hubbles amazing image data such as this one the Cats Eye Nebula also known as NGC 6543. They are very well seen in Hubbles image of the Cats Eye Nebula HERE. It is similar in appearance to the Ring Nebula in Lyra and is one of many well photographed planetary nebula in the night sky.
